Why choose Invisalign ?

You may have heard about the new ‘invisible braces’ and wondered what it is all about. If you have teeth that are crowded, too far apart or have shifted since wearing conventional braces, Invisalign® at Wood Lane Dentistry may give you a new reason to smile!

Because it is nearly invisible, almost no one can tell you are wearing Invisalign® braces, so you can smile more during as well as after your treatment. You can remove Invisalign® so you can eat and drink what you like, and studies have shown that it can be better for your dental hygiene during treatment. With no metal or sharp edges, Invisalign® is comfortable to wear and does not cause allergies.

The convenience and ease of use have made it the choice of over half a million people, giving hundreds of thousands of people amazing new smiles.

Benefits of Invisalign

How does Invisalign work ?

Using the latest advances in 3D computer technology, Invisalign® uses your dentist’s instructions to create a series of custom-made removable mouth trays (aligners). These teeth aligners apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth, causing them to move. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.

How long will Invisalign® take ?

Invisalign® only works while you wear the aligners. We recommend they are worn full time day and night (min 22–24 hours).
Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks, (before moving onto the next in the series), moving your teeth millimetre by millimetre, week by week, until you reach your desired result.

Treatment length will vary depending on your case, but the average Invisalign® treatment is nine to eighteen months.
During treatment you should visit us periodically at Wood Lane Dentistry, until it is determined that your treatment is complete.
Once active treatment is complete, there may be some fine tuning to create that perfect smile.

Our amazing Invisalign results

Why do so many people choose Invisalign ?

The convenience, effectiveness and easy to use nature of Invisalign has made it the straightening system of choice for millions of patients looking to improve their smiles worldwide. It’s the clear choice for patients looking for a cosmetic approach to their orthodontic treatment, eliminating the worry that they will feel self-conscious wearing traditional metal braces. The removable teeth aligners fit seamlessly into each patient’s daily lives and do not require any major changes to diet or brushing routines. Invisalign offers a very successful way to boost confidence and achieve a dream smile.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

You may find it takes a few days to get used to the aligners, and may have a slight lisp at first, but you should be talking clearly and confidently before long.

Are the aligners comfortable?

Yes, Invisalign aligners have been designed with comfort in mind, enabling you to easily wear them for up to 22 hours a day. They fit snugly over the teeth and have no metal brackets or wires to irritate the skin.

How long do I need to wear the aligners for each day?

You need to wear your aligners for around 22 hours a day for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and playing contact sports.

What are Invisalign aligners made of?

The Invisalign aligners are made from strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which has been uniquely developed for the Invisalign system.

What should I do if I lose an aligner?

If you lose one of your aligners, please contact us as soon as possible for further advice. In the meantime, you can wear an aligner from your previous set to prevent your teeth from moving too far out of line. We may also advise that you move straight onto your next set of aligners, depending on your individual case.

How much does Invisalign cost on average?

The cost of treatment depends on each individual case, with complex cases needing more aligners and therefore are more expensive. We can give you an exact treatment cost based on the examination and assessment we carry out during your initial consultation. We offer payment plans and finance options to help you spread the cost of treatment.

Is Invisalign covered by the NHS?

Unfortunately, Invisalign is generally not covered by the NHS. It is considered a cosmetic treatment, and the NHS primarily provides coverage for essential and medically necessary dental treatments. However, it’s always advisable to check with your local NHS dental service or dentist for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding coverage options. They can provide specific details based on your individual circumstances. If you’re interested in Invisalign, you may want to explore private dental options for more personalised treatment plans.

What are the pros and cons of Invisalign?

Invisalign offers several advantages, such as being virtually invisible, removable for easy cleaning, and often causing less discomfort than traditional braces. It’s a great option for those seeking a discreet orthodontic treatment. However, drawbacks include the need for strict compliance with wearing the aligners, the potential for higher costs compared to traditional braces, and it may not be suitable for severe orthodontic issues. Consult with your dentist or orthodontist to determine if Invisalign is the right choice for your specific needs and lifestyle.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment length varies from case to case, but most Invisalign treatments are completed in 9-18 months. Straightforward cases have a faster treatment time, whilst patients needing more complex straightening can expect to wear their aligners for longer. We can advise you of your expected treatment time after your initial consultation.

The whole team at wood lane has made me feel so welcome. However my dentist is a genius. My teeth feel better than they have felt in years. His kindness and patience seem unending. I have already made the rest of my family sign up with the practice.

The practice was recommended to me by a relative and though I live some distance away I would travel twice the distance to keep seeing my dentist. He always explains everything he does and makes the whole experience pain free and dare I say even pleasant. He has a lovely team behind him which only adds to my pleasure at being a patient at this practice.

This is one of the best dental practices that I have ever been to. Me and my whole family now use the wood lane practice, and all of us are very pleased with the service that we frequently recieve!
